Today we're launching the 'Introduction to Calculated Performance' training course.
When a player trains with us, they should get the same quality of coaching at every centre, from every coach. As we've grown from a small team in 2020, to a team of 40+ coaches across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside, keeping that standard consistent has become one of the most important things we do. The 'Introduction to Calculated Performance' is how we make sure of it.

What our coaches learn
The course is split into 9 modules, with short assessments along the way that coaches must pass before moving on. The theory covers 5 key areas:
- Who we are
- Our standards & expectations
- How we coach
- How we track progress
- Our programmes

From theory to practice
After the online modules, every new coach completes 3 practical stages at one of our centres:
- Observation. They watch experienced coaches deliver sessions and see our standards in action.
- Guided delivery. They lead sessions with an experienced coach alongside them, giving support and feedback.
- Independent delivery and assessment. They deliver on their own and are assessed against our standards, methodology and values.
Coaches also complete The FA's Introduction to Talent Identification course, so they know what to look for when spotting and developing potential.
