Paired Back Foot Touches

Description

The first athlete plays a bounce pass with the coach before opening up to receive the ball back from the coach. The athlete takes their first touch out to play a wall pass. Once the athlete receives the ball off the wall, they pass the ball back into the coach before opening again to receive the ball to play to the second athlete. When the first athlete takes their first touch, the second athlete should move away from the pole to receive the ball to take their touch towards the coach, repeating the same process.

Key Coaching Points

Body shape - Show the teammate where you want the ball being played to. This would also help get set to take the touch into the space the player wants to take it.

Field position - The athletes position on the pitch in relationship to where the ball is and where the player wants to go. Can the athlete influence the defender & the space to get the best possible outcome.

First touch - Step into the ball in the direction which you want to take it. Face the hips where you intend the ball to go.
