Ladder & Hurdle
Description
The athlete should work their feet through the ladder. When the coach calls “black/white”, the athlete should work over the related hurdle’s sideways before accelerating away.
PROGRESSION:
Alter footwork between ladder and hurdle
As the athlete completed the hurdles, the coach passes the ball in for them to accelerate forwards with the ball
Key Coaching Points
Ladder work :
- 3-step : 2 feet in, 1 foot out, zigzagging from side to side
- 5-step : 2 feet in, 2 feet out, focusing on balanced, controlled movement
Hurdle work :
- Marches - 3 steps either side of the hurdle, without crossing feet over)
- Single leg hops - balancing on 1 leg, hoping over the hurdles
- Double leg hops - jumping off both feet over the hurdles
- Developing power and balance
