Jumps
Description
The athletes complete the following -
- Squat jumps - the player jumps and lands into a squat, as soon as they land pushing off again.
- Spin jumps - the player jumps and lands facing 90 degrees to where they were facing originally, completing the practise once they have faced towards their left and right.
- Single leg hops - player hops on one leg towards the end. Alternates legs each time
- After working up the cones, the players walk back to their starting position.
The athletes work through each one to complete a set. 3 sets to complete.
Key Coaching Points
- Bending the knees on landing, taking impact out of the knee joint and utilising the isolated muscle groups.
- Landing on the front of the feet, helping to spring into the next action.
- Keep the head upwards, with it being the heaviest part of the body it can easily influence the athletes ability to balance and control themselves when moving.
