First Touch Paired Practise

Description

The first athlete starts between the poles to play a bounce pass with the coach. After, the player opens out to receive the ball on the back foot. The athlete plays a wall pass before controlling the ball and playing back to coach. The next player comes in sharply demanding the ball, repeating the same actions.

Key Coaching Points

Body shape - Show the teammate where you want the ball being played to. This would also help get set to take the touch into the space the player wants to take it.

Field position - The athletes position on the pitch in relationship to where the ball is and where the player wants to go. Can the athlete influence the defender & the space to get the best possible outcome.

First touch - Step into the ball in the direction which you want to take it. Face the hips where you intend the ball to go.
