Defensive Positioning

Description

SET UP : 
3 cones / flat markers
2 poles

DESCRIPTION : 

The coach will start with 1,2's through the 3 cones / flat markers. Once completed the coach will become the 'attacker', and dribble up to the outside of the pole. The athlete will look to jockey alongside the coach, preventing them from cutting inside.

Key Coaching Points

Body Position : How the athlete is stood - consider hip position
Field Position : Where the athlete is stood - consider space to shut off the attacker

Setting traps - Allow the attacker space to dibble into, but actually shutting down the space as they move further down the line.
