Description
The athlete will start inside the square, and each cone should be numbered 1-4. Start with the coach calling a number, and the player checking to the number called. When the player checks back into the middle they should receive a pass and play 2 touches, keeping the first touch inside the square.
On a command the athlete will dribble through the middle cones and transfer across into the second box. The same rules apply for the second box.
You can progress by calling either "1" or "2" when you pass the ball into the athlete, this number will resemble how many touches the athlete should take.
Key Coaching Points
Q: Ask the player should we have a cushioned touch or wedge touch? A: A cushioned touch when inside the box and a wedge touch when exiting the box to dribble through the cones..
A cushioned touch stops the ball and cushions it at the feet of the player while a wedge touch redirects it so that the player can start a run.
