Description

The player plays a bounce pass with the coach on one side of the pole before receiving the ball on the other, taking their touch towards the pole. The player performs a skill move on the first pole and second pole before playing a pass against the wall. Player receives off the wall to find a pass back into the coach to reset.

Skill moves -

  • Inside step-over
  • Outside step-over
  • Body feint
  • Chop move
  • 360 spin

Progressions

  • The player plays a bounce pass one side of the pole, making a move to the other side. The coach then plays the ball in-front for the player to run onto, forcing the player to take control on the move and in their stride.

Key Coaching Points

Close control - knee over the ball, small touches using different surfaces of the foot to manipulate the ball.

Awareness - recognise where the space is to move into, having the head up to see the pitch in front.

Change of speed - force the opponent to react to the movements and speed, making it difficult for them to read the intention.
